Address reply to (No. 8) Dear dad, just a few lines to let you knowthat I am getting on alright but I stil have a cold, now Dad, I must tell you that I am leaveing for France tomorrow night, Munday 29th also Con Hickey. ther is a bug lot going. it is dry but very cold. it has been dry for a week. dear dad I must tell you Willie was over for ten days leave, and he came out to see me. he is looking well. I try to get leave to go down to Plymouth with him but cud not. he went back to France on jan 21th I got a letter him. he said that he had a good tim down with Emery? I got Mums letter no. 5 also Ethels. Harry Burt is going with us to France. I also sent a cable the same time. I got a letter from jim Dimmick today. he is in England. he is at Codford. that is about nine or ten miles from heare. Dad I will send my address wen I get over. I also sending sum cards. do not send pecils (parcels) we dont get them only one out of a 100 do we get. we dont no were they go. well I think this is all the news for this tim. hoping this finds you all quite well at home, I will now close with Love to at Home I remain your loving sun Edward Marshall XXXXXX XXXXXX PS I will look after myself Ted Love to little Blue XXXXXX.
