Letter – of reference for William Marshall Snr from Thos Bennet HMQS Gayundah
Correspondence – From Thos Bennet HMQS Gayundah to Queensland Senior Naval Officer Brisbane. 9 August 1889. Reads : This certifies that the bearer William Marshall has served as stoker and leading stoker for about four years in this ship – he had to leave on account of sickness – but again joined the ship on her late cruise. I can confidently testify to his sobriety – ability, and attention, he leaves at this time only on account of a reduction of staff of stokers.
